And thats why i hate you.

currently where i live, it takes me about an hour to commute to my office. I have to take a bus. its not bad at all; get the paper, its air conditioned, put my headphones in…sometimes i just go to sleep. Then bingo…at work. but the other day i saw something that i personally have not seen before on a bus. a woman was handing out literature about whatever god she happened to believe in at the time.

now dont get me wrong. if people want to post up in public areas and hand out pamphlets to people that would like to accept them, then go for it!!! (although i do think thats a stupid idea as a whole since they are handing out booklets about religions that everyone on this fucking planet, not to mention a major metropolitan area, has heard of…its not something new and magical. if i was interested in your religion, id come and get info about it on my own).

so this bitch is walking down the bus as we are moving along asking people if they want her book. I have my earphones in and my shades on so i pretend to be asleep. she shakes me, literally puts her hands on my shoulder and shakes me “awake”, and then holds up the book and asks me if i want a copy.

fuck you. and fuck no.

I AM ON A FRIGGIN BUS! what can i do? where can i go? in a public area i can just keep walking, but this bitch is just harassing and asking everyone. if i wanted your book, id hit you with a brick and take it.

and thats why i hate all people who feel the need to force THEIR religion down the throats of everyone around them. seriously…dont you have a job or something? maybe some kids to take care of? anything other then trying to get people to convert to your religion? is there some incentive program where you get prizes based on the number of converts? LEST WE FORGET THAT HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS (thats not a typo…millions) OF PEOPLE HAVE BEEN KILLED BECAUSE THEY REFUSED TO CONVERT TO SOMEONE ELSE’S BELIEF SYSTEM?!?!

–M–

ps…according to scientists, the number of recorded murders in the history of man is thought to be around 284,638,000(R.J. Rummel). 151,491,000 have been in the last 100 years. If you add together ONLY those killed from nazi germany, nationalist china, and atheistic communism, it totals roughly 141,160,000. thats 49.59%!!! practically 50% of all people murdered in the history of the world happened in the last 100 years under regimes who were “our way or death” as far as religion is concerned (and that doesnt even count the deaths from the crusades of the middle ages, the spanish inquisition, or the various witch trials held throughout the world). fail.

Pascal’s Wager vs. Gallo’s Counter

Pascal’s Wager is simple and elegant, very to the point. simply put “that even though the existence of God cannot be determined through reason, a person should wager as though God exists, because living life accordingly has everything to gain, and nothing to lose.”

Now this is where Gallo’s Counter comes in. Those of you who know me know that i walk with a cocksure arrogance and maintain an overwhelming amount of self-confidence. i personally believe that i can take on any situation. this situation is no different. i intend to live my life as i see fit, and if in the end there actually is a god…then i will ask for forgiveness and he will grant it to me. how do i know this? it says so in the this bible that everyone talks so much about.

“We are made right in God’s sight when we trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, no matter who we are or what we have done… We are made right with God when we believe that Jesus shed his blood, sacrificing his life for us.” Romans 3:22,25

what if it happened to be you?

Tonights post is a lot more personal then most. I was at a friends house last night and was asked a seemingly simple question: “what are your life goals?”

Ive often tought i knew the answer to this question. now, to be clear, i do have many goals id like to accomplish. some include being a police officer, finding love and having a family, being happy, and being financially secure. but my life goal…thats entirely different.

But i knew the answer all along. it just took some reflection to realize it. the goal of my life, the meaning of my life, is to die while saving the life of another.

Its a price i would play gladly.

i’m a christian because im American? i’m all set with that.

Its amusing to think about the simple fact that religion is severely influenced by where you are born. For instance:
-North and South America, Europe, and Australia are christian.
-The southern half of Africa is a mix of christianity and tribal religions.
-The northern half of Africa and the Middle East are primarily Islamic.
-India is Hindu.
-China is a split between Buddhism and “chinese religions.”
-Russia, Greenland, and northern Canada are a split between tribal religions and the non-religious.

Back to the part about this being amusing to me. people live and die by their religion…kill others in the name of religion. yet this religion is almost wholly determined by where you are born. Its like a sports team…people, as a whole, root for the sports team in the city they grew up in. They are also rabid about their teams. This is especially true for football and soccer. It’s madness!!!

we are lucky to live in a country that doesn’t kill or imprison us for not worshiping the correct god (or the wrong team). if that were the case, then to the arctic circle I go!

Nightmare Scenario. Will you be a Survivor or a Statistic?

As much as people dont want to admit it, i think deep down everyone is hoping for a nightmare scenario to break them from this never-ending loop of the mundane that we call life. The way i see it is there are 4 possible scenarios, each with there own subset of outcomes.

1)”Zombies”
I think that a quote unquote zombie attack is possible a la “28 Days Later,” “I Am Legend,” and “Resident Evil” where some virus is created and infects the living…thus zombiefying them. I think an actual attack of the undead coming back to life is unreasonable.

This would lead to a massive breakdown in governments worldwide as they would not be able to efficiently contain both the zombies and panicked citizens. This would result in scattered fortified outposts and well as pockets of survivors. Now its time to suit and go on a killing spree until you can find the military.

2)Aliens
“Two possibilities exist: Either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying” -Arthur C. Clarke.

Assuming we arent, and they come, and they are angry…it could play out like “Independence Day” or “The Day the Earth Stood Still.” Either way, major cities would be destroyed leaving (again) scattered military units and scattered pockets of survivors. However this time, its about hiding and evading instead of killing.

3)We are all in the Matrix.
simply put…id think it’d be fun if this was true. ive always wanted to stop bullets…and not with my body

4)Nuclear War
Probably the most likely scenario. In this event, major cities would be wiped off the map, countries would vanish, millions would be killed instantly, and millions more would die from the fallout. This would lead to a life not unlike “Fallout 3.” I wouldnt mind that at all. Military resistance, attempts at new world orders, and pockets of survivors as well as pockets of bandits. makes for a fun time had by all.

BONUS! something else that cant be qualified above, such as “Children of Men” where women can no longer get pregnant or “Terminator” where the future continues to send back people and alter everything.

**We must also acknowledge the possibility of being hit by a celestial body or by the ravaging effects of accelerated global warming. in both scenarios, the entire world is affected and i dont believe much would change in the way of ordered governmental structure. i could be wrong.**

All i know is when the shit hits the fan, im going to be locked, cocked, and ready to go. the sooner the better.

Heaven. As boring as it sounds.

From what we can gather through scripture…heaven is a place where there is no suffering, no pain, no war. a place where nothing bad happens to anyone ever. a place of pure joy, ecstasy, and happiness.

Sounds pretty boring to me.

If you ask me, id rather come back to earth and enjoy all that is this majestic blue orb. You’re talking to a guy who used to work a supermax prison unit in Texas and for the Department of Defense guarding a nuclear submarine base. A guy who wants to be a cop, more specifically SWAT, so he can run into buildings full of people who want him dead. That sounds a hell of a lot more fun to me. thats my happiness, thats my zen.

You can all go to heaven…im staying right here.

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth.

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same.

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I–
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

-Robert Frost

This is my favorite poem. I first learned this poem in school when I was very young and it really struck a cord with me. Still today I try to follow it, to take the road less traveled by. My personal belief is that doing this will allow you to experience things one would otherwise never experience. Now this is no guarantee, but isnt it worth trying?

A response I received from a reader.

“The Road Not Taken is by far THE best poem I have ever read with the most meaning. Its always good to read it again and remind myself that although we are conformists in nature sometimes you need to stray off the paved road and make your own path to see what could happen. I wouldn’t worry about the path that everyone else chooses because they can just tell you where it leads and what happens. Id rather risk it and see where the path less traveled leads me.”

Thank you –G–
